Support for labor unions vs. support for big corporations

Kai Ryssdal Feb 18, 2011

These final notes today. First of all, a follow-up to our item earlier this week about the guy in Philadelphia who’s trying to foreclose on Wells Fargo. I guess Wells’s public relations department finally got wind of the whole thing. Somebody from the bank called him — they’re gonna work things out.

And apropos of the story out of Wisconsin this week, there’s this from the Pew Research Center. Support for both labor unions and big corporations is at or near historic lows. Pew says 45 percent of Americans think well of organized labor; 47 percent view companies favorably. They split, as you might imagine, along party lines.

Bad as those numbers are, they beat the heck out of how we feel about government: Just 22 percent of us approve of it.
