This week on Marketplace we’ll be following sustainable jobs. Today, we learned that a career as a children’s aerobic and work out instructor is sustainable in today’s tough economy.
Bank of America announced today that it would resume foreclosures. The bank had halted foreclosures nationwide after discovering problems with paperwork.
Google was also under fire today from the U.K. While doing research for its program Street View, Google intercepted tens of thousands of private emails and passwords.
At the G-20 meeting this weekend, Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner encouraged global finance ministers to agree on a proposal to curb trade imbalances.
Iceland is turning from banking to free speech. Iceland wants to host servers for companies world-wide, providing a safe and supported forum for freedom of speech.
Ben Bernanke spoke today about mortgages and finance at an FDIC symposium.
And finally, New Zealand residents are protesting Warner Brothers, who are looking to film Peter Jackson’s “The Hobbit” outside of New Zealand. Jackson’s trilogy — “The Lord of the Rings” — brought nearly $1.5 billion to New Zealand in jobs and tourism.
