That’s well under the national average score of 21. Ten years into recovery, some New Orleans educators are left wondering what the huge overhaul has actually achieved.
That’s how many authenticated Elvis artifacts will be auctioned Thursday evening at —where else? — Graceland in Memphis, Tennessee. As the New York Times writes, as the children’s television group has suffered in recent years from sagging DVD sales.
That’s the GreatSchools rating currently held by the Compton school district. The city also still has an unemployment rate twice the national average. But with the release of Dr. Dre’s newest album, “Compton,” and the forthcoming movie about the origins of N.W.A., Compton mayor Aja Brown points out that the city is on its way up. “At the height of N.W.A.’s success, Compton had triple the homicides than we have today,” she says. “Compton is much safer then it was before.”
