GE’s getting electric

Bob Moon Nov 11, 2010

General Electric has just revved up interest in the emerging market for electric cars. The company announced today it will buy 25,000 electric vehicles within the next five years. Initially, GE will purchase 12,000 GM vehicles, starting with the Chevy Volt.

It’s not just that it makes sense for a company with “electric” in its name. GE hopes to spur interest because it makes charging stations and other infrastructure that could bring in hundreds of millions in revenue.
