At one point, it was advantageous for some streamers to share a running tally of subscriber growth. Not so anymore.

Instead, companies are opting to report other metrics of growth.

The streaming giant announced this week it’s rolling out its redesigned TV app. The whole goal is to make it more tempting to stay on the app for longer.

Along with pricey upgrades, some apps are rolling out lower-cost options as they try to rake in more dollars from subscribers.

Disney’s streaming service has price and structural advantages, analysts say.

“We’re going to give you the tools to make this decision for yourself,” the newsletter startup co-founder says.

Investors will be looking at subscriber numbers in Monday's earnings report.
