Amazon Now is only available for certain items, and in certain metro areas, including Seattle, Philadelphia, Atlanta and Dallas-Fort Worth, but the company says it will soon be available in dozens of cities.
Congress and the postal service are discussing if reducing delivery days, increasing stamp prices, closing rural offices, or other structural changes would close the gap.
Companies could make their packaging more efficient and remap routes. Or expand cargo bike delivery programs, or schedule deliveries during the late night and early morning hours when congestion pricing is less expensive.
