A new report from the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland shows a rise in employers who are underpaying their workers, particularly at businesses like hotels, restaurants and grocery stores.
The temporary hiring of 25,000 census workers is part of the jobs number. Without that hiring, the U.S. added 96,000 jobs in August.
The economy added a strong 201,000 jobs, and the unemployment rate stayed at 3.9 percent, near an 18-year low.
