Janus

The Supreme Court's decision in Janus v. AFSCME disproportionately impacts public sector African-American workers.

The justices are scrapping a decision that had allowed states to require that public employees pay some fees to unions that represent them, even if the workers choose not to join.

Organized labor in Nevada is holding its own, in spite of right-to-work rules that ban charging fees to nonunion members — something the Janus case might lead to for public-sector unions nationwide.

The decision could mean a lot less money for unions that represent state and local workers.
