Greige — a combination of gray and beige — has been a popular paint color for the past few decades. In fact, a shade of greige dubbed universal khaki is Sherwin-Williams’ color of the year.
It’s a sign of what Amogh Dimri, assistant editor at The Atlantic, calls the color recession: a trend of colorless houses and cars that shows no signs of stopping.
“When color becomes less of an expression of personal taste than an investment, then people are afraid of getting that investment wrong“ Dimri said.
