Women’s sports are having a moment. According to a report from Nielson, 46 billion minutes of women’s professional sports were consumed in the U.S. in 2025. And as that viewership grows, women’s sports bars have started popping up across the nation.

Untamed Spirits is Los Angeles’ first women’s sports bar. Janie Trinh and Stephanie Ellingwood opened the bar last June.

They say it’s a place that likely couldn’t have existed 10 years ago. “Women's sports weren't playing on TVs,” said Ellingwood. “Now, in the last like five years, you can turn on ESPN and actually see women's sports.”

“Marketplace” host Kai Ryssdal visited the bar in early April to speak with Trinh and Ellingwood about their business.
