Five years ago, LAFC had an eight-person fan club. Now, the team sells out each home game.

Despite having only two seasons under their belt, the Los Angeles Football Club has sold out every home game, and remains in the top standings of the MLS, the biggest professional soccer league in the U.S. Marketplace host Kai Ryssdal took a trip down to the Banc of California Stadium, where LAFC is based, to talk with president and co-owner Tom Penn about launching the team, the feature of U.S. soccer, and why a parking lot can make all the difference when you’re launching a major sports brand.
