The EU and Turkey’s refugee crisis

Turkish Prime Minister requests €3 billion in aid during refugee crisis

European Union leaders met with Turkish officials in Brussels today. On the agenda:  refugees and migrants — specifically, the millions of people who have fled conflict in Syria and other countries, passed through Turkey (in many cases) and sought refuge in Europe.

The latest in a very long line of very important meetings on the European migrant crisis started this morning in Brussels. Leaders of the European Union and its member states had a sitdown, today, with the Turkish prime minister about the millions of refugees who have fled the civil war in Syria.

According to the United Nations, that number is at 2.7 million in Turkey with millions more who have already passed through the country on their way to Europe.

The BBC’s Damian Grammaticas reports on the meeting in Brussels.
