The number of customers who had their personal information, including addresses and phone numbers, compromised by the data security breach at Target. The company announced that in addition to stealing credit and debit card information of millions of customers, the hackers took “names, mailing addresses, phone numbers or email addresses.”   (Marketplace)

The number of customers Time Warner Cable lost in the company’s previous quarter, meaning the company lost 825,000 cable customers for the year. There are also rumors that rival cable provider Charter is gearing up to make a $62 billion bid to buy Time Warner Cable in the next few weeks. (Bloomberg)

The number of people around Charleston, W.V., who were warned not to use municipal water Friday morning after a chemical spill from a coal-processing plant tainted the water supply of the Elk River. President Obama issued a federal disaster declaration. (LAT)
