The aging economics of cattle ranching

There news out that cattle herds are down across the U.S. and, naturally, beef prices are rising.

In our continuing quest to bring you voice from people who live and work in the actual economy, we check back in with cattle rancher Ken Lenox in Rolla, Mo., about his business, the status of the cattle industry and the sustainiblity of cattle ranching.

“[Herds] are down in every state, they’re down. There are all kinds of reasons for that. In the South, the droughts come into play, the high price of corn comes into play, the age of the people who own the ranches comes into play.”
