Pet costumes: The new consumer confidence indicator?

One robust sector of the economy is how much we're spending on our pets.

This final note today, which can be filed one of two ways: Either this week’s sign the apocalypse us upon us, or, to judge by their spending habits, American consumers are feeling just fine, thank you very much.

From Bloomberg News, according to the National Retail Federation, Americans are going to spend $7 billion dollars this year on Halloween, and $330 million on Halloween costumes …
