Insurance broker (noun, obsolete?): A profession that may go … poof … as the Affordable Care Act rolls out. Brokers are middle men, who connect up customers with insurers, and usually collect a commission for their efforts. With small businesses, and millions of newly insured individuals heading to the online exchanges to shop, a big chunk of brokers could become irrelevant. Those who figure out how to survive online will last. But just remember travel agents, after Expedia was born.
