Behind the Data: Pet ownership by income bracket
We examine what a person's income says about what pets they own.

Marketplace/APM
We built this data set based on recently-released 2012 academic research and reporting from Diana Mutz at the University of Pennsylvania.
For each income bracket, respondents were asked whether they owned dogs, cats and other pets like birds or gerbils.
Interestingly, the income bracket with the highest percentage of gerbils is the $85,000 to $99,000 bracket.
