We built this data set with statistics from academic research by Steven Ruggles, J. Trent Alexander, Katie Genadek, Ronald Goeken, Matthew B. Schroeder and Matthew Sobek based on census data.

The data set provided by the academics groups marital status responses by income brackets of about $2,500 each.
