Chairman of the Council of Economic Advisers discusses latest jobs report

The Bureau of Labor Statistics reports the economy added 169,000 jobs last month, falling below analyst expectations. The unemployment rate ticked down to 7.3 percent.

Unemployment in August moved down to 7.3 percent and 169,000 more people showed up on payrolls according to government figures today. The economy has had a slow recovery–the labor participation rate is down and the duration of unemployment has gone up. Jason Furman, President Obama’s chairman of the Council of Economic Advisers, joins Marketplace Morning Report host David Brancaccio to disucss the report.
