Tesla Motors CEO Elon Musk says he will reveal plans for the so-called Hyperloop on August 12. Musk has only hinted at what the Hyperloop is, but he’s described his latest idea as a “cross between a Concorde, a railgun and an air hockey table.”

Many expect the Hyperloop to also include pneumatic tube technology. Transporting people and things with the help of compressed air, tubes and capsules is far from new. Matt Novak, writer for tech website Gizmodo, joins Marketplace Tech host Ben Johnson to explain.
