The last time the Dow was above 14,000…

Looking back at what's changed since the last time the Dow Industrial Jones Average reached above 14,000.

This final note today, sending us into the weekend with some context for the Dow’s close above 14,000.

The last time the blue chips were this high — October 2007 — turns out Beyonce was in the news back then, too. Her song “Irreplaceable” was number one that year. Ryan Gosling too — he’s in “Gangster Squad” now; back in 2007, his film was “Lars and the Real Girl.”

Some things don’t change that much. But yeah, times were different back then. Concrete things: The unemployment rate was 4.7 percent in October 2007. Apple stock five years ago closed at just $167.25 a share.

And after that…. the bust.
