Pinterest comes to iPad and Android

This is a Marketplace.org Reader

Maybe, MAYBE this will be enough to save Pinterest from being completely doomed and shutting down in the next few days because Pinterest is on THIN ICE. No, not precisely, but after experiencing enormous growth in the latter part of last year, Pinterest has been climbing at a slower rate. Still growing, just not as fast. Still, the photo sharing site (which always has crafts and cupcakes on it whenever I stopped by) is seen as perhaps the strongest competitor to Facebook and the reason Facebook has gone even more bonkers for photos in recent months.

Now Pinterest is coming to iPad and Android devices, which should actually expand Pinterest membership by quite a lot.

From All Things D:

(Pinterest co-founder Evan) Sharp noted the Android app was built from the ground up for Android, not as a simple port from iPhone. Just like many of the products its users pin, Pinterest the company loves to handcraft its own projects.
The new Pinterest for iPad includes a Pinterest-specific browser built into the app, including a new button that pops up a display of everything people have pinned from that Web site.

At the company party where the new platforms were announced, other founder Ben Silbermann said,“Our goal has never been to get you in front of the computer transfixed for hours and hours on end, it’s to get you offline.” Way to make me feel lazy, Ben.
