Research In Motion’s oft-delayed BlackBerry 10 system is finally on the way and when it gets here it won’t make a dang bit of difference. That’s according to analyst Peter Misek from Jeffries in a new report. Misek had been given an early version of the system from RIM and concludes that while it’s a big improvement over other systems it won’t be enough to make up any substantial ground over iPhone and Android. Misek concludes that this could revive the possibility that RIM, having essentially failed as a hardware maker, might license the software to Samsung. Then Samsung could offer BlackBerry phones or even tablets, with all the tight security that enterprise customers want, in a case that people actually like, unless they’re exploited Chinese workers making stuff for Samsung.
Now here’s the thing: does anyone want BlackBerry? Really? I mean, the security thing is nice but would anyone buy one on their own? And if you’re a business, would you invest in the platform even if Samsung makes it?
