Finally, at long last, the twin phenomena of overpriced headphones and spoiled cats have come together in one luxurious disaster of a product. SOL REPUBLIC x Meowingtons Cat Headphones cost a thousand dollars and are designed to be used for cats only. So, presumably they can listen to “Stray Cat Strut”, “Cat’s in the Cradle”, “Cat Scratch Fever”, “Year of the Cat”, and maybe “Who Let the Dogs Out”, which would serve as more of a cautionary tale. Don’t take the whole thing too seriously, though. The cat headphones are meant as something of a joke, having been made and marketed by music producer deadmau5 and inspired by his own cat, Meowington. I guess when you’re stage name is, pretty much, Dead Mouse, a cat affiliation makes sense. Only ten sets of the headphones have been made and proceeds will go to the ASPCA.
