Google Maps for Antarctica get more details

This is a Marketplace.org Reader

Planning a trip to Antarctica? Of course not! You’re not crazy. It’s cold there and you could get eaten by a penguin or something. Instead, you can just check out all the new details on Google Maps’ coverage of the continent of Antarctica (also known as “The Dark Continent” or “The Land Down Under”) which has now debuted. You can go inside the cabin of explorer Ernest Shackleton, who won’t mind because of how dead he is. The cabin is remarkably well preserved due to the climate.
From NBC News:

Built to withstand the drastic weather conditions for the few short years, the structures are still intact, along with well-preserved examples of the food, medicine, survival gear and equipment used during the expeditions.
You’ll also see the South Pole Telescope, the hut of Robert Falcon Scott, who led Britain’s 1901 Discovery Expedition, Cape Royds Adélie Penguin Rookery and the Ceremonial South Pole with its international flags planted in the frozen tundra.
