Cook: it’s all about Siri and secrecy

The All Things D conference is underway in Silicon Valley and Tim Cook of Apple is providing some hints as to where his company is going. He was cagey about specific plans for such things as the heavily-rumored Apple television but did indicate that Siri is just getting started.

From MacWorld:

“Customers love [Siri], but there’s more that it can do,” he said. “And we have a lot of people working on this. And I think you’ll be really pleased with some of the things that you’ll see in the coming months… we’ve got some cool ideas about what Siri can do. And so we have a lot going on on this. I think you’ll be pleased where we’re taking Siri. We’re doubling down on it.”
He also said that he wants to make the company less leaky about upcoming products. Well, good luck with that, Tim. You run an enormous company that relies on a vast network of suppliers and manufacturers.

On the social front, he promised closer ties with Facebook and admitted that Ping has been a complete flop. If you don’t know what Ping is, well, you’ve proved his point.
