Fish swim, birds fly, the genial non-threatening manchild wins on American Idol, and Apple racks up big numbers. These are the certainties of our lives. Research firm NPD DisplaySearch (weird name, you guys) says Apple captured 22.5% of the mobile PC market last quarter, which is up 118 percent year over year. The firm defines mobile PCs as tablets, notebooks, and mini-notebooks and said the category grew by 30% since last year. So Apple grew its share of a dramatically growing market.
Apple also shipped 13.6 million iPads in the first quarter.
With that many tablets shipped, the company easily dwarfed all competitors in market share, taking 62.8 percent of the space. Samsung and Amazon trailed far behind with 7.5 percent and 4 percent market share, respectively.
Apple is Phillip Phillips, everyone else is lucky just to be Sanjaya Malakar at this point.
