Motorola stops sales of Xbox, Windows 7 in Germany

The thing about the patent wars is that they aren’t like regular wars. There aren’t two major opposing alliances. It’s more like a bunch of armies all smashing into each other all the time all over. So more like a Battle Royale in pro wrestling.
The latest action is in Germany where Motorola Mobility has scored a temporary injunction against Microsoft that will halt the sales of Xbox, Windows 7, Internet Explorer and Windows Media Player. A US Court has banned Motorola from enforcing the blockade until a stateside hearing can be held next week.

The BBC reports:

Microsoft has said that if it met all of Motorola’s demands it would face an annual bill of $4bn (£2.5bn). Motorola disputes the figure.
A statement from Motorola said: “We are pleased that the Mannheim Court found that Microsoft products infringe Motorola Mobility’s intellectual property. As a path forward, we remain open to resolving this matter. Fair compensation is all that we have been seeking for our intellectual property.”
