Coming soon: live streaming of the earth from space

This is a Marketplace.org Reader

Well, I don’t know how to feel about this one at all. There’s a plan to launch something called Urthecast. That’s a deliberate misspelling of Earthcast, I suppose. And by “launch”, I mean actually put something on a rocket and send it up into space. A company plans to mount a camera to the International Space Station and allow people to watch live streaming of our planet as the ISS rotates around. Not just that, either, but you’ll be able to zoom in to what’s actually happening on the ground. So you can figure out when the thing is flying over your house and then go out and wave while your friends watch on their computers. Or something.

I mean, it’s public view, it’s not an x-ray into your house or anything, but the ability to watch other people FROM space? I don’t know, dude.
