Anonymous goes after CISPA supporters

Sometimes I feel like the vice-principal of a high school who has to go in every morning, inspect the damage wrought the night before by the same group of vandals, and then write up a report about it to be fed into the bureaucratic machine. Except I’m a tech host and the vandals are the hacking group Anonymous and the high school is the Internet.

Latest hacking target: trade groups who are supporting the Cyber Intelligence Sharing and Protection Act of 2011.The websites of USTelecom and TechAmerica were flooded to the point of shutting down in a denial of service attack originating from Anonymous.

Says NextGov:

The bill, sponsored by leaders in the House Intelligence Committee, would allow businesses and government agencies to share more information with each other to counter cyberattacks. Civil libertarians have criticized the bill for undermining privacy laws and creating a backdoor for government surveillance.

The bill passed overwhelmingly in committee and should reach a floor vote later this month.
