YouTube scores a Paramount deal

The site that gave us the Beibs, cat videos, and double rainbows announced a new movie deal this morning with Paramount Pictures. Over the next few months Paramount will make close to 500 movies to YouTube and Google Play available to rent and stream. YouTube and Play? I thought Google was trying to consolidate its services and make things less confusing. I guess is the Googs is marketing Play as a one stop shop for all media, ala iTunes, but it’s hard to shut down the juggernaut brand that is YouTube. There’s not a complete list of all the movies that will be offered. As of now you can rent Hugo, Transformers, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, the Godfather trilogy, and for the Arsenio Hall contingent: Coming to America. What does it all mean?
