Instagram launches on Android

Instagram finally showed up on the Android platform yesterday and was downloaded over a million times on launch day alone. Up until now, Instagram has only been available as an iOS app (iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch) and has done quite well.
The 30 million registered users upload more than 5 million photos each day. More than a billion photos have been shared so far just among iOS users, a number that’s sure to climb dramatically now that Android has joined the party.
The Android Instagram app was made available on Google Play, Google’s entertainment hub. Instagram might provide a nice kick in the pants for Google Play, which launched last week.
