Kutcher to play Steve Jobs in a movie, unless it’s an April Fool’s thing, which just points out how stupid and infuriating it is when journalists do April Fool’s.

April Fool’s Day gets pretty stupid on the internet as everyone competes to put wacky fake stories online to fool people. I’m no journalistic zealot but it all seems kind of screwy to me. I mean, the one reason the news exists is to tell you true things so you can understand more.

Anyway, when Variety runs a report saying that Ashton Kutcher of all people is going to play Steve Jobs in a biopic, you have to be dubious. Variety is insisting it’s no joke. This is not the film version of the Walter Isaacson biography so it’s probably not officially approved by the Jobs estate or anyone with taste or judgment.

From Variety:

The film will chronicle Steve Jobs from wayward hippie to co-founder of Apple, where he became one of the most revered creative entrepreneurs of our time.
