Consumer Reports weighs in about hot iPad

This is a Marketplace.org Reader

Somebody send Glenn Frey a royalty check because the heat is on! Consumer Reports now says they’ve measured the new iPad, the horse with no name, as measuring 116 degrees at its hottest, which was while playing Infinity Blade II*. That turns up the heat for Apple, too, which is going to have to explain what the heck is going on with the tablet that has already sold over three million units. The situation isn’t quite as dire as the problem with the iPhone 4, which was found to be easily shut off accidentally. With the 4, Consumer Reports went so far as to recommend people not buy the phone until Apple fixed it. In this case, CS says that while the new iPad is significantly hotter than its predecessor, it was “not especially uncomfortable if held for a brief period.” Or you could just set it on a table.
* that had to be easily the most fun day in the history of the Consumer Reports testing lab.
