New iPad runs 10 degrees hotter than the old one

This is a Marketplace.org Reader

You remember way back in March of 2012 (fine, it was yesterday) when we told you there was speculation that the new iPad ran hotter than its predecessors? Well, it turns out to be true according to some actual tests run with actual heat measurement devices. Using infrared cameras, Tweakers.net found that the iPad 2 ran at 82.94 degrees at its hottest point while the new iPad measured 92.48 degrees. Tweakers.net speculates that it might be the new retina display causing the temperature switch. I think it’s safe to say that with all the new things Unnamed iPad does, there is bound to be a temperature difference. So it’ll be hotter on your lap but it also means it’s much more likely to overheat and shut down.

Also, Apple sold 3 million iPads over the weekend, bigger than the biggest estimate. That’s a lot of iPads It would seem to support a little theory that I have. Try to follow me here: people like iPads.
