Pew study on how we read news

This is a Marketplace.org Reader

Pew Research Center’s Project for Excellence in Journalism released its annual report on the state of news media today, which is probably more exciting for yours truly than yours you-ly, but interesting none-the-less. According to the study Facebook and Twitter are making gains on traditional media in how we read the news. 9% of those surveyed said they get their news through Twitter and Facebook recommendations.

As All Things D points out: “That’s a lot more than a few years ago, when that number would have been a goose egg for both services, because they didn’t exist.”

News websites are still the dominant source with 36%. Just under news sites, however, is plain old search. 32% surveyed get their news through googling (or Binging or Yahoo-ing – really, Yahoo-ing?).
