Google+ will have 400 million users by the end of 2012

That's a lot.

So go the words of Paul Allen, the other Paul Allen I mean, the founder of Ancestry.com, who has been keeping track of Google stats from an outside perspective since G+ launched last summer. He says the service is adding 625,000 users per day and that its growth rate is pretty strong, possibly due to all the people getting on Android devices and firing up in to the Google universe. Facebook, of course, has about 800 million users, although one wonders about critical mass for Big Face and how many people who aren’t on it ever will. Allen’s estimate is for registered users and not active users and that’s a key distinction. A whole lot of people sign up because it’s easy and they might already have a Google account but then they might not go back very often. Sorting friends into circles is fun and all, I guess, but not all that fun.
