What’s the average citizen’s share of U.S. debt?

The White House is looking for another increase of the debt limit, which would bring the grand borrowing total to more than $16 trillion.

This final note today — on the day that the Treasury Department told us the U.S. government is going to come within $100 billion of its debt limit this Friday.

I don’t have to explain the debt limit to you since we all got a crash course over the summer. This time, the White House is looking for a $1.2 trillion increase in the limit, and it appears getting that increase will be a lot easier than it was last time.

For the record, the nation’s borrowing limit would jump to $16.394 trillion.

Your share of that? $52,402.28, give or take.
