Google + adds enhancements

I guess they gotta stay busy over there.

In a related story, a re-release of Gigli is adding commentary tracks, a making-of documentary, and 3D features.

I kid, I kid.

Google introduced some tweaks to its social networking product yesterday. Most of them are pretty minor although I am intrigued by the idea of a kind of metaphorical volume knob.

As Ars Technica explains:

Do you have a few Google+ friends who are obnoxiously prolific in their status updates? The new “graphic equalizer” essentially sticks a volume knob on every user, allowing you to adjust your exposure to annoying updates accordingly. So, if you’d rather not read up-to-the-minute coverage of your pal’s sick kitty, slide the equalizer button to the left and watch the offending updates dwindle (or disappear completely, if you’re really that tired of them).

There’s also an improved photo viewing lightbox plus photo editing and photo tagging.

You know what? Social media is all about photography anymore. That’s the big push Twitter has made, embedding photos in a tweet. Facebook’s Timeline leans strongly on photos. This is the big bet social is making. Photos. Personally, I’ll take the thousand words.
