Windows online store plans revealed

Let us remember software in a box. Meet you at the crossroads. Mourn you til I join you.

Microsoft has announced some details of an upcoming new Windows store that will let you download applications for desktops, laptops, tablet, and phones. The store will offer developers an 80% cut of each download, provided the app earns more than $25,000 in sales, which is more lucrative than many other app stores offer. Otherwise, devs get the same 70% cut that Apple and Google offer. Apps will start at $1.49 (as opposed to 99 cents in Apple’s store) and some will be offered free as well.
