Surprise. Apple wins.

Patent battle goes Cupertino's way.

The U.S. Trade Commission ruled yesterday that Apple didn’t infringe on rival smartphone maker HTC’s copyright. HTC, which recently purchased S3 Graphics, tried to make the case that Apple copied S3’s ideas and used them in the iPhone. Apple has been pretty successful at defending itself against these copyright cases, which have become more and more popular among tech companies. It’s thought that HTC purchased S3 for the company’s patents just so it could go after rival smartphone makers. What would have happened if Knute Rocke had spent his coaching years trying to sabotage his oppenents’ teams into forfeiting? No forward pass. That’s what. So, come on you patent-hungry tech lawyers, let’s ease up on the suing. Do it for the Gipper.
