It’s interesting to see such a proactive approach to warning the public going on here since it comes at a time when Congress is discussing legislation to mandate a process by which a hacked company informs customers of any breach. This AT&T thing might be totally unrelated to that but it would be a good way to let Congress know that further regulation is unnecessary.
