Tech thoughts on the raid on Zuccotti Park

Where does the online manifestation go from here?

Police have raided the original Occupy Wall Street site in Zuccotti Park, potentially bringing to a close the gatherings that ignited this whole movement in the first place. Sounds like the protesters are reassembling in Foley Square, having agreed to do so through various uses of social media. OWS has become such a cultural phenomenon that even if this is the end of the localized New York protest, the movement will continue. One wonders how the online manifestation of OWS will evolve and if that will become the dominant venue for what’s becoming a cultural institution. There wasn’t social media in the anti-war or civil rights protests of the sixties but there is now. How will that shape an amorphous ongoing social movement?
