Google Maps announced yesterday that it is going to start charging high-volume users. That could be you, if you access the maps API over 25,000 in a day, but most likely the fees will be charged to businesses that run travel and other map-intensive sites. For every 1000 hits over the limit, a $4 charge will be incurred. According to Google, the charges will affect .35 percent of users, so feel free to continue printing maps for Mother to get her to the library and back. Be on the lookout, however, for the fees to be passed along to you when you book a flight and hotel in the near future.
