Creech Air Force Base in Nevada is home to several pilots who command drone plane missions in Afghanistan and other warzones. Officials at the base recently disclosed that a computer system used to control the planes has been infected with a virus. Wired reports that the virus “has not prevented pilots at Creech Air Force Base in Nevada from flying their missions overseas. Nor have there been any confirmed incidents of classified information being lost or sent to an outside source. But the virus has resisted multiple efforts to remove it from Creech’s computers.”
The virus logs keystrokes of the pilots, and as TechZwn reports, it “may be an internal Department of Defense (DoD) security monitoring package.”
