Geekwire is reporting that there has been a settlement in a Microsoft case against Samsung. Microsoft charged that Samsung’s use of Google’s Android operating system violated some Microsoft patents. Samsung will now pay Microsoft an undisclosed sum/percentage for each Android-based product sold. Microsoft previously settled with HTC in a similar case and under similar conditions. There may be less acrimony here than you think, says Geekwire:

Perhaps not coincidentally, both Samsung and HTC make devices that run Microsoft’s Windows Phone operating system. The Microsoft lawyers say in the post that the latest deal gives Microsoft and Samsung “greater patent coverage relating to each other’s technologies, and opens the door to a deeper partnership in the development of new phones for the Windows Phone platform.”
