Without much fanfare, Amazon opens its Kindle Lending Library service today in over 11,000 U.S. libraries. Kindle owners can have books “whisper-synced” to their readers just like checking out a book. Not a Kindle owner? Well, if you just have an Amazon account, you’re eligible. It’s new territory so this is likely what Amazon considers a “soft launch”, try it out, make sure it doesn’t get all crashy and buggy. If it does, the damage won’t be great and fixing will be easier.
