One of the biggest problems with the lithium batteries used in everything from laptops to electric cars, its liquid electrolyte. It gets really hot and can potentially start a fire. Enter jelly batteries. British researchers have found a jelly replacement for the liquid electrolyte which significantly cuts the risk of overheating. Researchers also expect these new batteries to be 10 to 20 percent cheaper than what is currently on the market.
