By now you may have seen video of Sarah Palin in Boston stumbling over an explanation of what Paul Revere did during his famous ride. Revere, in her description, was:

“He who warned uh, the British that they weren’t gonna be takin’ away our arms, uh by ringing those bells, and um, makin’ sure as he’s riding his horse through town to send those warning shots and bells that we were going to be sure and we were going to be free, and we were going to be armed.”

Okay. A stumble, right? But then Palin’s supporters started going on the Wikipedia page for Paul Revere and changing stuff to back up Palin’s account. Edits have been made that Revere rang bells (not true) and that Americans were technically British at the time, therefore what she said about warning the British was true. The page is now locked down as Wikipedia admins try to prevent further edits. Meanwhile, livid debate rages on the comments section. As we all know, a website’s comments section is the ancestral home of livid debate.
