A charge by Senator Jay Rockefeller (D-WV) at yesterday’s Senate Commerce Committee hearings on mobile privacy is raising some eyebrows. “It’s my general feeling that people who are 20, 21, 22 years old really don’t have any social values,” the Senator said. He held this up as a reason why Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg, who is 27, did not put more of a focus on privacy issues. Facebook has been taking some heat lately (I mean, when are they not?), this time about underage use of the service. Facebook members are supposed to be a minimum of 13 years old but a recent study said up to 7.5 million Facebook members are younger than that. Indeed, there’s no verification process when you sign up, you are how old you say you are.

Meanwhile, and what are the odds, Facebook is hosting a discussion of protecting kids online.
